01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Augmend was a Seattle AI startup spun out of Madrona Venture Labs in 2023, led by CEO Diamond Bishop (a former Meta engineering leader on the PyTorch project) and CTO Tim Misiak (formerly Microsoft). It built a "shared brain" for software teams: a platform that recorded on- and off-screen actions — app transitions, terminal commands, code logs, audio transcripts and video — to capture company knowledge into a queryable bank, using large language models, OCR and an in-house matching algorithm so developers could get answers in natural language instead of bothering colleagues.
