01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
VideoNotes (videonot.es) was a free note-taking platform for the digital age, created by the French educational startup UniShared. It captured, synchronized and stored notes with their context — video, audio and slides — so that clicking a line of notes jumped to the matching point in the video. The platform piggybacked on Google Drive as an integrated Drive app: every note was saved to the user's Drive with its associated video URL, and login worked through a Google account. It supported YouTube, Coursera, Udacity, Khan Academy and edX, with a freemium business model.
