01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Bumper (formerly Auto Service Finance) is a London-based auto fintech founded in 2013 by Jack Allman and James Jackson. It is a digital payment platform for vehicle repairs and services: drivers can pay online, in-store or split their repair bills into interest-free monthly instalments, with real-time lending decisions made by proprietary AI-enabled technology. Working with over 4,000 dealerships and garages across the UK, Spain, Germany and the Republic of Ireland - including partners such as Volkswagen Group, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and Nissan - it has enabled more than 330,000 vehicle owners to spread repair costs. Backers include InMotion Ventures (Jaguar Land Rover's investment arm), Autotech Ventures, ITOCHU and Revo Capital, with total investment of about £36.6 million (around $42 million).
