01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Preact was a San Francisco-based customer success SaaS company founded in 2012 by CEO Michael Geller (originally in Los Angeles). Its cloud platform helped subscription software companies maximize customer lifetime value: it tracked session-level product usage across web, mobile and servers, predicted which customers were likely to churn, renew or upgrade using behavioral science, machine learning and big-data analytics, and fed the data into tools like Salesforce, Marketo and Zendesk. It raised $12.35 million from Atlas Venture, Trinity Ventures, Boldstart, Root Ventures and others.
