01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Documents.Me was a US enterprise security startup (Nouvou, based in Santa Clara, California) that went through Y Combinator in Winter 2012. It offered mobile file sharing with client-side encryption for enterprises: files were encrypted on the device before reaching the cloud, so the enterprise — not the cloud provider — controlled the keys and privacy, protecting sensitive documents from cloud breaches and insider threats.
