01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Kavall was a Stockholm-based ultrafast grocery delivery startup launched in 2021 by founders including Robin Rendahl (formerly Gastrofy and Northfork) and Peter Simon (formerly Spotify). Through its app it sold groceries from its own dark stores and delivered them in about 10 minutes, offering 1,000-2,000 items with a 19 SEK delivery fee. It raised just over 20 million euros across three rounds from investors including VNV Global, Bonnier Ventures, Inbox Capital and Nicoya, expanding across Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, and into Finland and Norway. In March 2023 it was acquired by competitor Mathem, and its operations continued under the Mathem Express brand.
