01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Crowdz, founded in Silicon Valley in 2014 by Payson Johnston, built an invoice-financing marketplace for small and midsize businesses. Its InvoiceXchange let companies digitize invoices and auction unpaid receivables to banks and investors competing to offer financing at the lowest rate, speeding up the cash-conversion cycle. The blockchain-based platform raised a $5.5 million Series A in 2019 led by Barclays and Bold Capital Partners, plus a $2 million Series A+ in 2020.
