01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Syndi Health was a London-based digital health startup founded in November 2020 by Ben Lakey and Jorge Alexander within Entrepreneur First's London 15 cohort, after both founders waited over 10 months to access mental health support themselves. It built a medically approved, patent-pending AI platform - the digital infrastructure for hyper-personalised health support inside organisations: assessing and matching users to effective, immediate digital health services (starting with mental health apps), monitoring outcomes, and enabling reimbursement by employers and insurers. It raised about $2.25 million (including a GBP 1.65 million pre-seed with angels like ex-AXA Global Health CEO Damien Marmion, DataTiger founders Phil Mohr and Puli Liyanagama, and Baron O'Shaughnessy, plus Innovate UK grants). In May 2025 it was acquired by UK healthtech platform HealthKey, which integrated Syndi's technology into its personalisation engine.
