01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
WorldMate (MobiMate) was an Israeli mobile travel company founded in 2000, originally a software vendor for Palm devices. It became the leading itinerary-management app in the BlackBerry/Palm era - routinely one of the top-10 highest-grossing mobile apps in the 2000s, with a claimed 10 million users. Its apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone let travelers plan trips, book hotels and car rentals, and organize itineraries; BlackBerry even took a minority stake and built BlackBerry Travel on its technology.
