01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
MightyQuiz was a San Francisco startup in Y Combinator's Winter 2008 batch that built a collection of user-generated quiz questions which could be answered and rated on-site or through a distributable widget. The company was founded by Altay Guvench, Olgun Guvench and Ben Silbermann - who went on to co-found Pinterest in 2009 (his history lists 'Mighty Quiz' as a 2009-2010 chapter between Audiobeta and Pinterest). With a two-person team, the company never raised outside funding beyond YC. Y Combinator lists it as inactive, and the YC company database marks it dead. No dated shutdown announcement was found.
