01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Goodly was a San Francisco-based fintech startup founded in 2018 by Gregory Poulin and Hemant Verma. It made it easy for employers to offer tax-free student loan repayment as an employee benefit: employers could give workers $100 per month in student loan payback for a $6 fee. The company launched out of Y Combinator's Summer 2018 batch, raised a $1.3 million seed round led by Norwest in 2019, and later reported it was profitable with partnerships with brokers including NFP and Willis Towers Watson.
