01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Bearer was a data security SaaS company founded in 2018 in San Francisco by Guillaume Montard and Cédric Fabianski, with an office in Paris. It built a developer-first platform that automatically detected sensitive data flows and data security risks while coding - combining open-source code analysis engines with proprietary heuristics. Its policy engine monitored data security policies before code release, and a remediation workflow prioritized the most critical issues. Customers included healthcare, e-commerce and financial services companies such as Doctolib. The company raised an $8 million seed round led by Alven, with Kima Ventures, Partech and Point Nine. In March 2024 it was acquired by DevOps security company Cycode for an undisclosed price.
