01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Darewise Entertainment was a Paris-based game studio founded in 2015 by former Ubisoft game director Benjamin Charbit and ex-Ubisoft and Crytek tech lead Samuel Kahn. Staffed by veterans of titles including Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Unity, Dying Light 2, Tom Clancy's The Division and the Fable series, the studio released the survival sandbox game Rokh into Steam Early Access in 2017 and then pivoted to Life Beyond, a blockchain-based play-and-earn MMORPG. In April 2022, Animoca Brands acquired a 70% majority stake in the studio to accelerate Life Beyond's Web3 development.
