What the company did
LendLayer was a San Francisco fintech startup founded in 2013 by Steve McGarry. It provided student loans for coding bootcamps and accelerated learning programs such as Hackbright Academy — financing tuition for programs that promised fast entry into tech jobs. In August 2015 the company was talent-acquired by Affirm, Max Levchin's consumer finance startup, which absorbed the team shortly after its own $35 million Series B.
