01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
S'More was an anti-superficial dating app founded by Adam Cohen-Aslatei that aimed to shift the focus from appearances to personality and compatibility. It used a matching algorithm to recommend five potential matches a day, blurred out profile photos so daters focused on interests and attributes first, and used facial recognition to prevent catfishing and underage use. It had raised $3.2 million in seed funding from investors including Mark Pincus and Gaingels.
