01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Peepl was a Liverpool-based blockchain startup co-founded by CEO Leon Rossiter. It used blockchain technology (the Fuse network) to build circular local economies — starting with Peepl Eat, a food-delivery alternative that let local restaurants avoid the high commissions of delivery giants, rewarding consumers with 5–10% of order value in Peepl Tokens (PPL) that could only be spent within the local network. The startup joined the UK Financial Conduct Authority's Sandbox programme and was backed by a £700,000 investment from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
