Eloquis
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Eloquis was a bootstrapped SaaS startup founded by Rohit Nallapeta that built a personalization platform for mobile apps. Observing that the web had evolved to greet users personally ('Hello Bob') while most mobile apps still treated users transactionally, Eloquis aimed to humanize apps with personalized experiences for developers.
02 / Eloquis FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Eloquis failed from no market need, as founder Rohit Nallapeta explained in a Failory post-mortem: personalization was not an immediate need in the app world, and the team assumed the market would see the value of the product. It was early to market, targeted the wrong customer segment, and had no strong marketing strategy — email and LinkedIn outreach had very little impact. The bootstrapped venture lost $20,000.
