01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Necto was a San Francisco startup in Y Combinator's Winter 2018 batch, founded by Benjamin Huang and Adam Montgomery. It sold an ISP starter kit: tooling that let local entrepreneurs launch their own neighborhood internet service providers. In March 2019 fellow San Francisco ISP Monkeybrains acquired Necto, announcing that existing customers' service would continue uninterrupted as their equipment was transitioned onto the Monkeybrains network.
