01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
MetaSoccer was a blockchain soccer-metaverse game built by Champion Games around play-to-earn mechanics. Players acted as club owners or managers in a football metaverse: scouting and training youth players, buying and selling player NFTs, lending players, playing league and tournament matches against AI or other users, and running stadium and sponsorship businesses. Its economy used two tokens: MetaSoccer Universe (MSU), with 360 million minted at launch and 18 million presold to seed liquidity, and MetaSoccer Cash (MSC), a secondary token that rewarded lower-division play and stabilized the in-game economy. Champion Games published weekly tournament rule updates, and in 2024 the project relaunched with a token swap (exchanges such as Gate suspended MSU deposits and withdrawals for the swap in July 2024). No dated shutdown announcement was found.
