LitHit
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
LitHit was a Y Combinator Winter 2017 startup (founders Anthony Crivolio and Eric Mills) building smart shooting targets for shooting sports. Its electronic targets lit up on impact, connected to a smartphone, and ran drills and tactical scenarios with real-time analytics and games — designed to help shooters improve their skills through gamified practice.
02 / LitHit FAILURE REASONS
Why it failed
LitHit never found a market big enough to sustain a hardware company. PitchBook records the company as out of business on December 20, 2017 — just nine months after its YC batch — and YC marks it Inactive. Like many niche sports-tech hardware plays, it faced a small, price-sensitive customer base, hardware manufacturing costs and the long sales cycle of shooting-range equipment, all with only a $120K seed round behind it.
03 / EVENT HISTORY
