01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Tiv was a Chicago fintech startup founded in April 2020 by Jed Strong, previously in strategy and business development at Xbox, and JP Pillat, a Twitch streamer and content creator. It built a payments and rewards platform for gamers: customers got a virtual and physical payment card linked to their gaming accounts, and the more hours they played, the higher their cardholder reward rate climbed — four hours of FIFA one night meant better rewards on groceries the next day.
