01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Spire Health was a San Francisco medical device and data company, founded in 2013 by Stanford PhD Neema Moraveji and backed by Y Combinator's Winter 2015 batch, that built remote patient monitoring solutions for chronic disease care. Its core expertise was continuous respiratory sensing: wearable sensors that tracked breathing patterns around the clock, used by pulmonologists and patients across the US for lung disease management, with sensors worn by more than 150,000 people. Majority investor Gilde Healthcare backed the company's push into data-driven cardiopulmonary care. In September 2024, Wellinks acquired Spire Health to fold its clinical-grade monitoring into a predictive cardiopulmonary care model.
