01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
EnBiotix was a Boston-based late-clinical-stage biotech co-founded by CEO Jeffrey Wager, built on synthetic-biology antibiotic technology from MIT professor James Collins. It developed engineered antibiotics and potentiators against drug-resistant infections, with an initial focus on chronic respiratory diseases—programs included ColiFin for cystic fibrosis lung infections and inhaled murepavidin. In 2021 it merged with Swiss-listed Polyphor, and the combined company was renamed Spexis AG.
