Fuzzy
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Fuzzy offered remote veterinary consultations, pet prescriptions and supplies, and pet-health education.
02 / Fuzzy FAILURE REASONS
Failure reasons
Fuzzy Pet Health shut down abruptly in June 2023, and no official reason was ever given. In the weeks before closure the company carried out mass layoffs and wound down operations; the shutdown was confirmed only through a LinkedIn post by its former chief medical officer, who wrote that Fuzzy 'was unexpectedly shut down this week.' Customers were left without access to prescription refills or vet appointments, and the website was taken down without warning. The company had also faced a 2019 workplace harassment lawsuit against CEO Zubin Bhettay that settled out of court for $250,000 in 2020. How much of the collapse was driven by the post-pandemic pet-telehealth downturn versus internal problems remains unclear.
