01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
scPharmaceuticals was a Burlington, Massachusetts pharmaceutical company (Nasdaq: SCPH) founded in 2013 and led by CEO John Tucker, focused on optimizing infused therapies into subcutaneous products. Its commercial franchise was built around FUROSCIX — the first self-administered subcutaneous loop diuretic, an 80-mg furosemide formulation delivered via an on-body infusor for outpatient treatment of congestion due to fluid overload in chronic heart failure and chronic kidney disease, launched in February 2023. The pipeline also included SCP-111, a pH-neutral aqueous furosemide formulation for subcutaneous injection, and an SCP-111 autoinjector program. FUROSCIX generated $27.8 million in net sales in the first half of 2025, up 96% year over year.
