What the company did
Diagram was a five-person AI design startup founded by Jordan Singer, who left Square to found the company in late 2021. Its quest was to build a design assistant: it explored building Figma plugins, starting with Automator, a drag-and-drop automation interface, then Magician - a toolbar of AI utilities that lived inside Figma, generating icons, imagery and text (Magic Icon, Magic Image, Magic Copy) from ChatGPT-style prompts without leaving the canvas. Its later Genius project aimed at an AI design companion that could create and modify designs from successive prompts. The company raised $4.1 million.
