01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Predibase was a San Francisco-based AI infrastructure startup founded in 2021 by Devvret Rishi (CEO), Piero Molino (chief scientist) and Travis Addair (CTO) - AI technologists from Google and Uber. Its platform gave companies a fast way to fine-tune open-source AI models into production-ready solutions, combining a proprietary post-training stack with an optimized inference engine (including the open-source LoRA eXchange system) that delivered up to 80% cost savings over hosting foundation models. It raised more than $28 million from Greylock, Felicis and Sancus Ventures, and served customers including Checkr, Nubank and Marsh McLennan.
