01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Revolancer was a Wales-based freelance marketplace founded in January 2021 by Karl Swanepoel as an Aberystwyth University dorm-room project. It connected ambitious businesses with quality-approved freelancers for digital projects — design, web, marketing, writing, programming and virtual assistance — using AI-powered quality control to reduce fees. It won the InvEnterPrize startup competition and a £13,000 grant, then raised £150,000 in pre-seed funding led by SFC Capital, later growing to 15,000+ users with angels including former SA rugby captain Bob Skinstad and Just Eat founder Mat Braddy.
