01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
oak9 was a Chicago-based cloud-native security platform, co-founded and led by CEO Om Vyas. It specialized in infrastructure-as-code, helping developers build security and compliance into cloud-native applications as they are developed, with a catalog of out-of-the-box blueprints that let customers meet security and compliance objectives on any architecture and any cloud provider. In 2024, it was acquired by compliance automation platform Drata — including all employees and technology — and merged into Drata; oak9's products were sunsetted and customers were moved over to Drata as part of its new 'Compliance as Code' capability, showcased at RSA in May 2024.
