01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Memfault was a Boston-based cloud platform company that provided device observability and management plus secure over-the-air (OTA) software updates for large-scale deployments of connected IoT products. Trusted by a growing developer community to monitor, maintain and scale connected products, it had reached $7.2 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2024, expected to grow over 50% in 2025. On June 24, 2025 its long-term partner Nordic Semiconductor - the Norwegian leader in low-power wireless connectivity - announced its acquisition for $120 million on a cash- and debt-free basis; the transaction closed on July 1, 2025. Nordic folded Memfault's capabilities across its product portfolio and its nRF Cloud services platform, launching what it called the first complete chip-to-cloud platform for lifecycle management of connected products.
