01 / WHAT IT BUILT

What the company did

Gently (formerly Wearloom) is a San Francisco secondhand-fashion shopping aggregator founded in March 2021 by Samuel Spitz and fellow Rice University graduate Kunal Rai. Described as 'Amazon for secondhand', it lets shoppers search, filter and set alerts across resale sites including Poshmark, Depop, eBay, ThredUp, Vestiaire Collective, Rebag, Grailed, GOAT, StockX and TheLuxuryCloset from one place, taking a percentage of the sales it drives. In September 2022 it raised $2 million in pre-seed funding from over 20 investors including Jason Calacanis's Launch, Dorm Room Fund and V1.VC. No shutdown or acquisition has been publicly documented; the company remains active.
