01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
EzDubs was a San Francisco-based AI speech translation company whose software translated live speech while keeping the speaker's own voice. Founded in 2023 by Padmanabhan 'Paddy' Krishnamurthy, Amrutavarsh Kinagi, and Kareem Nassar (who had founded the speech startup Voicea, bought by Cisco in 2019), it went through Y Combinator's Winter 2023 batch and raised a $4.2 million seed round. Its products included an X bot that dubbed video clips (340,000 followers and over a million views a day by December 2024), a WhatsApp voice-message bot, and iOS/Android apps translating phone calls, video calls, and chats in real time with voice preservation.
