01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Cardionomic, Inc. was a privately held medical device company developing a novel therapy for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF), a condition that hospitalizes over 1 million Americans annually. Backed by venture capital and strategic investors — including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Abbott Laboratories and New Enterprise Associates (NEA) — it spent several years developing the Cardiac Pulmonary Nerve Stimulation (CPNS) System: electrical stimulation delivered via a temporary catheter in the pulmonary artery, targeting the root cause of heart failure by stimulating autonomic cardiac nerves to restore autonomic balance. Pilot studies showed significantly less worsening of acute heart failure, increased fluid loss without worsening renal function, and improved quality of life at thirty days. In April 2025 it entered a definitive agreement to sell its assets; in May 2025 Catheter Precision, Inc. (VTAK), through its 82%-owned subsidiary Cardionomix, completed the acquisition of Cardionomic's heart-failure assets.
