01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Data Marketplace was an Austin-based startup incubated by Y Combinator in 2010, founded by Steve DeWald and Matt Hodan. It served as a middleman helping financial organizations find quality data on the web: users submitted data requests, which the site routed to its network of 200,000 data aggregators, programmers and consultants specializing in financial data, who then posted data resources with metadata and prices that buyers could search and purchase.
