What the company did
Loom.ai (founded 2016, San Francisco, by Mahesh Ramasubramanian and Kiran Bhat — former LucasFilm and DreamWorks staff) built real-time facial animation technology for 3D avatars. Its computer-vision startup combined deep-learning neural networks, computer vision and visual effects to virtualize humans into 3D digital experiences — first automating 3D avatar creation from a single selfie, later enabling real-time facial animation with emotions and expressions. It raised a $3 million seed round from Samsung Venture Investment in May 2018.
