01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Nutrigene was a personalized nutrition startup that combined the vitamin business with consumer DNA analysis. Founded by Min FitzGerald — launched out of Singularity, followed by a Google fellowship — with co-founder and CTO Van Duesterberg (a biotech and epigenetics PhD from Stanford), it sent customers tailor-made liquid vitamin supplements based on a lifestyle quiz and, optionally, a 23andMe DNA upload. Customers chose packages such as 'essentials,' 'improve performance,' or 'optimize gut health.' Nutrigene went through Y Combinator's winter 2018 class. No shutdown, bankruptcy, or acquisition has been publicly documented.
