01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
Blendspace was a San Francisco-based edtech startup (launched 2012, originally called EdCanvas) that let teachers collate digital material - videos, text, images, PDFs, quizzes - into digital lessons in one place and share them with students, with progress tracking. A graduate of Imagine K12's 2012 class, it claimed 500,000 users in over 12,000 schools and 70 countries under CEO Amy Lin. In July 2014 it was acquired by London-based TES Global, the teacher resource network; the team joined TES's San Francisco offices and the premium features were made free for all users.
