PredictImmune
The business, the turning points, and the decisions behind them.
01 / WHAT IT BUILT
What the company did
PredictImmune was a University of Cambridge spin-out founded in 2017, developing blood-based prognostic tests for immune-mediated diseases. Its first product, PredictSURE IBD, was a CE-marked test predicting which inflammatory bowel disease patients would follow an aggressive disease course, guiding early treatment choices. The test launched commercially in the UK and Ireland in 2019 and was licensed into North America and continental Europe through partnerships with KSL and Theradiag.
02 / PredictImmune FAILURE REASONS
Failure factors supported by the current evidence
No public post-mortem explains why PredictImmune wound down. The record shows the end was orderly: the company entered a solvent members' voluntary liquidation in February 2024, with a declaration of solvency on file. Commercial headwinds for molecular diagnostics—slow clinician adoption, reimbursement barriers, the cost of proving clinical utility—may have played a role, but no source attributes the decision to them. The cause of the wind-down remains unestablished in the public record.
